Mini Review:
At this point, the fake boyfriend trope has fallen to the wayside, and Finley is now focusing on deeper relationships between characters. In the case of Talon and Miller, they were best friends in college with a “unique” arrangement that drifted apart, but they reconnected when Miller joined the same football team as Talon. Talon thinks he and Miller are going to pick up where their friendship left off, but Miller doesn’t want to go down that route again, secretly having been in love with Talon since Talon graduated from their alma mater.
I could not get enough of this story! From the genesis of their “bonding” experience in college to reconnecting almost a decade later, you see the push and pull of Miller’s feelings toward Talon – his struggle to balance not only his feelings and friendship with Talon, but also the reality of what happens when your dream is almost ripped away in an instant. With one heck of a bi-awakening, this story had EVERYTHING!
