Break the Ice

Book #1 of a 4 Book Series

Book Summary:

When Aurora Hart moves in with her brother and his two teammates, it’s only supposed to be a temporary fix.

Enter Noah Holden.

Cocky. Heartbreaker. With enough game to have every girl on campus falling at his feet.

When Noah’s best friend asks him to look out for his sister, he doesn’t expect to find her so resistant to his charm.

Or find himself so interested in his new housemate.

He’s Lakeshore U’s biggest player.
She’s quirky, shy, and one hundred percent not his type.

Can Noah help Rory let go of the insecurities holding her back from embracing life?

Or will he be unable to break the ice around her heart?

Mini Review:

I absolutely loved Noah and Aurora’s story. It was the quintessential opposites-attract slow burn with the added mix of being a hockey romance, best friends to lovers, along with forced proximity. I almost swear Cotton was playing a game to see how many tropes she could squeeze into one story. I loved that she didn’t make it easy for Noah to win Aurora over, and the evolution of his character just made you love him even more. Aurora’s transformation was awe-inspiring. From the fear of just walking downstairs in the first moments of the book to wearing form-fitting clothes and engaging in public displays of affection towards the end, we saw the impact of friends, family, and those she trusted in helping her overcome some of the more manageable demons of her past, while also building an arsenal against the negative voice that plagued her every day.

Speaking of which, I am ecstatic that they didn’t go with the “love conquers all” approach. Aurora still sought help, still had her moments and struggles, but had the support around her that had always been lacking. Same with Noah—I am glad that things didn’t just magically resolve in his past. Learning about what happened to him, you couldn’t help but feel loathing and hatred for his father. I applaud Cotton on how she handled that situation as well as the final game where payback had never been so sweet!

While some of the writing was redundant in places or certain points were overly emphasized, all in all, the humor (loved the roommates/teammates), the heat, and the overall story is exactly what I hoped for having read the first two prequels. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this series has to offer!
