Mini Review:

For those looking for a sweet, clean, small western town romance, this book is just right for you. I will warn that while it is not prevalent in the story, the characters are Christian and those values and religious beliefs are woven into the story. I wouldn’t down right call this a Christian romance but it walks a very fine line. 

As for the primary characters, I loved the push/pull dynamic of Lacy and Clint. They were like magnets, no matter how much they pulled apart, they were inexplicable drawn to each other. Their heated exchanges topped with the drama of cow rustlers made for a high energy story. 

The only thing that bothered me and again, I chalk it up to the religious undertone, is the speed and intensity of Clint and Lacy’s relationship. One kiss and the next thing you know, they are engaged. I am hoping more happened off scene in terms of relationship growth than what was shared. I just didn’t feel like these two people knew each other well enough to essentially go from being strangers, to barely dating when he is already proclaimed he was marrying her, to planning a wedding. 

As a short novel (only 250 pages) I understand the need to skip a couple of details and I respect purity values but there just seemed to be a lot more depth to these two that was passed over – I mean they fought like cats and dogs – did they just magically get along for the rest of time?! I don’t care if their relationship was chaste until they were married but I can’t buy that everything was sunshine and rainbows – Lacy was just too headstrong for that. I would still recommend it as a sweet read and truly enjoyed it but the ending just left me with more questions that answers.
