Marty and Luce win a blind date through a charity raffle. Marty is young and vibrant. Luce is older and a little bit bitter. In one night, they manage to change the course of each other’s lives.
This is a prequel of Hat Trick in the Fake Boyfriend universe.
Mini Review:
This quick novella gave HEAs to two “left-behind” characters from Fake Out and Trick Play. In Part One, we see what happens after Noah breaks things off with Aron, only to return and discover that Aron and Wyatt are together. In Part Two, we learn why Max is so angry with Ollie (spoiler: he’s in love with Ollie’s ex, who also happens to be Max’s best friend and business partner – Ash). Part Three serves as a prequel to Hat Trick, where we meet Marty and Luce before they go on to play important roles in Jet and Soren’s story.
All three are fairly casual reads. The most engrossing of the bunch is Ash and Max’s story. Marty and Luce’s story is lust-filled and very entertaining, keeping the drama to a minimum. Aron and Wyatt’s section feels more like a way to give Aron his happy ending, though their story does go on to play an important role in Final Play.
