Here Comes My Man

Book #2 of the Duet

Book Summary:

Let me just say this — fake dating the cocky movie star was not my idea. Especially since he’s my former roomie and, gulp, my secret ex.

But my agent tells me I have no choice since I’m ridiculously overdue with turning in the next big blockbuster love story to my publisher.

Not to mention, ahem, writing it.

Falling for the smooth-talking English hottie once upon a time — fine, twice — were huge mistakes that I shouldn’t repeat, but pretending to like the guy who broke my heart is my only chance at saving my job.

That is, as long as no one finds out that every date we go on, every smile we flash each other for the cameras, and every hot, desperate kiss on the streets of Manhattan is absolutely fake.

Except…it’s not. At least for me.

And he can never know…

Mini Review:

By the time you finished the duet, I think you went through a hefty number of fan-favorite tropes! Book One covered strangers to lovers, forced proximity, and grumpy vs. sunshine. Book Two picks up with fake dating, celebrity romance, and second chance. The best part is that Lauren seamlessly intertwined them all into a flawless story.

I think the only thing that bothered me about this book was the circumstances that brought them back together. They broke up because of Jude’s insecurities. If he hadn’t landed his breakout role, would they have ever reunited? Obviously, it’s not a question that will ever have an answer, but it’s the same curiosity I always have with accidental pregnancy storylines – if she hadn’t gotten pregnant, would they still have been together? If Jude had finished his show in LA, gone back to London, and continued with plays and commercials, never fully realizing his dream, while TJ kept thriving as a successful author, would their story have just ended? Or would one of them have eventually broken down again and reconnected, just like they did the first time?

Either way, the entire duet was a beautiful read. Honestly, I think I had more fun with the cattiness during the enemies-to-lovers part than I did with the swoon-worthy moments in the first book!
