Mini Review:

This book was fantastic! Blair had me cracking up from beginning to end. Camilla knows how to write a female protagonist that you can’t help but love. While this is only the second book I have read by Camilla Isley, I have ever intention to keep going with the series!

“Never have I ever lost my job, my boyfriend, and made a spectacle out of myself all in the same day.” Not only does Blair Walker tackle all three in lightning speed, she proceeds to get drunk for the first time! And why not?! Playing it safe hasn’t gotten her anywhere. Having followed the “Nevers” on her list, her straight-laced, ideal life has resulted in: 1) losing her promotion as it was essentially bought from under her and 2) getting dumped because her boyfriend was literally beneath someone else (secretary, really? So cliché!). So instead, Blair decides to do the Anti-never list, taking on each of the things she has avoided to appease those around her (namely her mother). She’s off to a great start (insert sarcastic tone) after crossing off the first two of her list – waking up, hung over, in unfamiliar territory. Trying to piece together the night before, she happens upon the owner of the apartment – the most beautiful man she has ever seen. With zero recollection of what happened and making every effort (and failing miserably) to avoid absolute humiliation – Blair quickly learns Richard is just a online magazine owner that called her late to set up an interview and offered her a safe place to crash so she could sleep it off. Leaving with what little dignity she has left, Blair makes it home, shares the joke that is her life with her roommate and best friend Nikki. All in with this new outlook on life, Nikki convinces Blair to go to the interview with Richard’s magazine – checking off yet another “Never” on her list. One crazy situation after the next, Blair finds herself with a new job, an unexpected crush, and a “to do” list that will give her the life she never knew she always wanted.

A closed book romance with real feelings, relatable characters, and hilarious moments – Camilla gives you a feel good experience that is short, sweet and quick to the point (this book was just over 200 pages). I absolutely loved Chevron! That dog just made my day. I got a kick out of her best friend Nikki and can’t wait to check out her story (and it’s a Christmas story so guess what’s on my TBR list for the holidays!).

I think what I enjoyed most about this book was how far Blair was willing to go outside of her comfort zone once she took on the list. Not only was she willing to go after what she wanted and stand up for herself, she pushed Richard into facing his fears and not missing out on his own happiness because of his past. My heart went out to him for being left at the alter. It is completely understandable to close yourself off like that when you were ready to give your everything to someone and they completely humiliate you.

Having read Opposite’s Attract first, it was wonderful to get peeks at those characters but Camilla did a fantastic job of not placing spoilers so you don’t need to read the books in order (at least these two).

Living up to the hype, this book kept me laughing from beginning to end and makes me want to create my own “Never” list and then reverse tackle it!

About the Book Authors

Camilla Isley

Camilla is an engineer who left science behind to enter the whimsical realm of romantic fiction.

She writes contemporary rom-coms. Her characters have big hearts, might be a little stubborn at times, and love to banter with each other. Every story she pens has a guaranteed HEA that will make your heart beat faster. Unless you’re a vampire, of course.

Camilla is a cat lover, coffee addict, and shoe hoarder. Besides writing, she loves reading—duh!—cooking, watching bad TV, and going to the movies—popcorn, please. She’s a bit of a foodie, nothing too serious. A keen traveler, Camilla knows mosquitoes play a role in the ecosystem, and she doesn’t want to starve all those frog princes out there, but she could really live without them.
