Texts From My Exes

#1 New York Bestselling Author

Book Summary:

Some people scrapbook.
I screenshot my exes’ texts.

What started as me venting my dating disasters online (creative outlet, don’t judge) has turned into a blog with actual followers—and the only thing keeping me in my dirt-cheap apartment. My grandmother-slash-landlord insists I “prove my creativity” to stay, so the blog lives on.

Except now my readers want a happy ending. With an ex.
Problem? None of my exes qualify.
So…I invent one. The perfect guy. The one that got away.

Rule #1: Never roast your exes online if they know how to read.
Rule #2: Definitely don’t make up a fake ex-boyfriend just to keep your rent low.
Rule #3: Don’t—under any circumstances—let your best friend discover the lie.

Because now he’s volunteered to become my fake perfect ex. And the more we fake it, the more I can’t tell if my readers are the only ones falling for the story.

Turns out, the biggest plot twist of all?
I might have been in love with him the whole time.

Mini Review:

I wanted to like this book, I really did, but while I enjoyed the humor, I feel like it was rushed to publishing. I don’t care that it had grammatical errors and misspelled words, but either the editor phoned it in, or the AI editor needs to be discontinued. The one thing I care about more than anything else is continuity in a book, and there were glaring errors in Chapters 32 and 33. These were supposed to be overlapping chapters from different perspectives, but they were NOTHING alike – like no one took the time to say, um, this doesn’t make sense.

I can understand that anything she overheard may have been misinterpreted, but even the direct interactions and conversations between the two chapters were noticeably different! While there may have been issues earlier on, when I was more forgiving, by the end I was fed up.

The last straw came in Chapter 35, when Aaron references a slip of the word “years” that is never actually stated by Harper, as though her dialogue or comment was accidentally removed from the page. As much as I adored the Consequences series, I just wasn’t a fan of this one. If it were properly edited and re-released, it could be a fan favorite, because Harper was a disastrous delight, and you can’t help but fall in love with and root for Ezra. Rachel definitely brought the humor and the heat, but this book was not audience-ready.
