Book #2 of a 4 Part Series
Book Summary:
He’s That Guy.
You know, the hero in almost every romance novel. The super-rich, powerful CEO who is beyond sexy. Lives in a penthouse. Is wicked in bed. Has massive…feet. Is kind of a jerk, but really he’s not because he harbors some major secret that, once revealed, explains why he is the way he is—therefore completely redeeming himself and making all the readers who hated to love him swoon….
Yeah. That one.
Well, I found him.
I’m a writer who has spent years searching for the perfect muse.
Now that I know he exists, I have a mission.
To make him fall in love with me.
This should be easy. I mean, I have issues, but above all, I’m a great catch.
Problem is, I did a stupid thing.
And now he hates me.
Unfortunately for him, he’s my That Guy.
And he’s going to love me….
Whether he wants to or not.
Mini Review:
This book was the three Fs – Flirty, Filthy, and freakin’ funny as anything. If you like Lynn Painter, you’ll love the female main character in this book. Penelope Hart is the textbook definition of bat s*** crazy (Jake’s words – not mine). I can’t even begin to describe her, yet the biggest smile crosses my face. She’s the type of friend you wouldn’t want because she’s a lot to handle (Emily deserves a medal!), but you’d want to be connected to just to hear all the crazy stuff she does!
I couldn’t put this book down and was cracking up the entire time. What I loved most was its absurdity. It took the billionaire trope and just ran with it. There’s absolutely no universe where any of what Penelope did would be remotely feasible without jail time – okay, more jail time, and technically, the first time she was in jail was unrelated (you’ll have to read it to find out!). Kim Jones’s other books don’t fall into the romantic comedy genre, so she took this one and went all in, which is probably why it was so far out of left field. It was as if she had a list of every stereotypical thing that would happen in a romantic comedy and shoved it all into this one. The best part was that Penelope was an aspiring romance writer, so her character justified all her antics in the name of content for her books.
I will say this book is hot – like insanely spicy hot. You’d think it was a contest to see how many scorching scenes Kim could pack into it. I applaud Penelope for her effort and Jake for his endurance, but I think even Tessa Bailey or Alice Clayton would have pulled back just a little! I would say this walked a very fine line between an open door contemporary romance and erotica.
The most admirable thing about Kim is that she made sure Penelope never stopped being who she was. Even though the story mirrored “Pretty Woman” (which is pointed out several times), Penelope was herself until the very end, which made you appreciate Jake even more for loving her without forcing her to be something she wasn’t (don’t get me wrong – he really did try, but not every situation is “My Fair Lady”). I’ll admit at the beginning I was rooting more for Penelope and Cam but am glad the story turned out the way it did. Cam was definitely a keeper, and while I would have loved to read his story, Kim hooks you up in the epilogue and wraps everything up in a perfect bow.

Kim Jones
“I’m Kim.
I like reading, dogs, Merle Haggard, laughing, playing cards, smoking cigarettes, not working, never doing laundry and food.
I also write books.
And I think writing a biography about myself is the weirdest part of being an author.”
