Book Summary:

To the world they are rivals, but to each other they are everything.

Ten years.

That’s how long Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov have been seeing each other. How long they’ve been keeping their relationship a secret. From friends, from family…from the league. If Shane wants to stay at the top of his game, what he and Ilya share has to remain secret. He loves Ilya, but what if going public ruins everything?

Ilya is sick of secrets. Shane has gotten so good at hiding his feelings, sometimes Ilya questions if they even exist. The closeness, the intimacy, even the risk that would come with being open about their relationship…Ilya wants it all.

It’s time for them to decide what’s most important—hockey or love.

It’s time to make a call.

Mini Review:

I lost count of how many times I almost lost it with this sequel! There are so many gut-wrenching, tear-jerking moments that listing them would spoil it for other readers, but I will say, have a tissue close by! I skipped books 3-5 because I had to see what happened with Ilya and Shane. To say this book met my expectations would be like saying the sun rose in the east and set in the west. This book was like spotting a double rainbow, so magically impactful that you feel you must tell everyone because it just affected your entire world at that moment.

There were so many things, so many messages, so many points – just so much in this book that if you weren’t smiling, you were laughing; if you weren’t laughing, you were trying not to cry. If you dislike spoilers, I wouldn’t recommend making the jump ahead like I did because all previous books are mentioned in this one, so you know how life is for Scott, Ryan, and Troy. Eric is mentioned in passing, but the HEA of those three is clearly confirmed.

I don’t know if this is the last book in the series, as I would love to know what comes from Scott’s group and if anything happens with the commissioner, but if it is, what a way to end it! It took them 13 years to finally have their HEA. I am still shaking my head about that. Rachel did an incredible job with this story. From ages 17 to 30, we truly saw the evolution of these characters. We saw them go from boys to men and were a part of their story from the beginning. Every bump, every trip, every doubt – we were there.

While their story may be over, I don’t think I will be letting go of Shane and Ilya anytime soon. Besides the two of them, Hayden and J.J. were wonderful additions to the story (loved Hayden!), and Shane’s parents are the stuff dreams are made of. If this is the end, I’m going to miss this universe, but having skipped ahead, I now have the pleasure to go back and peek in on Shane and Ilya as I watch Ryan fall for Fabian and Troy crush on Harris.

About the Book Author

Rachel Reid

Rachel Reid is the pen name of Rachelle Goguen. She chose it because it is much easier to say, spell and remember than Rachelle Goguen! Rachel writes cute, romantic smut, mostly about hockey players. Her Game Changers m/m hockey romance series is available from Carina Press. Rachel/Rachelle lives in Nova Scotia, Canada. She has always lived there, and it’s looking like she probably always will. She has two boring degrees and two interesting kids.
