Book Summary:

Temptation, ambition, and the perfect voice.

Ruby has always had a passion for music, but when the opportunity to become a sexy voice-over artist arises, she grabs it – no matter what the cost. She soon discovers that her boss, Daniel, is not only the imminent owner of the agency but also the not-so-perfect gentleman. As Ruby learns the ropes of her new career, she also learns the abs and angles of her boss.

Can Ruby prove to Daniel that he made the right decision to hire her, while simultaneously proving to herself that she has the talent and dedication to get the career of her dreams? As Ruby and Daniel move through a series of contentious life issues, they must also overcome corporate sabotage and past flings to reach their ultimate goal.

The Perfect Voice is a hot contemporary romance with a comedic counterpoint. If you enjoyed the book “The One” by Kiera Cass, you’ll love The Perfect Voice. Buy now before the price changes!

Mini Review:

Asides for the inconsistencies between Book #1 and Book #2 (which you wouldn’t be aware of if you read this one first), a few grammatical errors and editing mistakes, The Perfect Voice is a sweet, spicy office romance between Ruby (who just can’t seem to catch a break) and Daniel (who is looking to make up for lost time and reaping the benefits of his sacrifice).

As much as I wanted to love this book, the force rift in the third act killed it for me. I understand many authors need the third breakup to build the resolve but this one felt way too forced and blown completely out of proportion. I was left asking “What just happened?” and even reread to try to determine what I missed that justified the 180 in the coffee shop. While some type of explanation was provided by Gloria, I was still left feeling perturbed by what could have been a quick resolve in the same scene. I was all in up until that point.

The ending, while some may find endearing, left me scratching my head. Stop reading now if you don’t want the spoiler.

Ok, I warned you!

Who proposes to someone with the logic that they can get to know each other with a long engagement?! I felt like that was possessive and archaic which went against what we had learned about Ruby and Daniel. I understand he was in love with her but to try to “lock it down” when they had just started dating seemed a bit brash and extremely off putting. At that point the story was over but I would have already checked out if there was more to come.

Overall, I would still recommend giving The Perfect Voice a read simply for the spice (now those scenes were amazing!) but point out it isn’t necessary to read The Perfect Lesson – especially since the two contradict each other – primarily with timeline and Trudie’s background.
