Book Summary:
Sam Brandis was Tate Jonesâs first: Her first love. Her first everything. Including her first heartbreak.
During a whirlwind two-week vacation abroad, Sam and Tate fell for each other in only the way that first loves do: sharing all of their hopes, dreams, and deepest secrets along the way. Sam was the first, and only, person that Tateâthe long-lost daughter of one of the worldâs biggest film starsâever revealed her identity to. So when it became clear her trust was misplaced, her world shattered for good.
Fourteen years later, Tate, now an up-and-coming actress, only thinks about her first love every once in a blue moon. When she steps onto the set of her first big break, heâs the last person she expects to see. Yet here Sam is, the same charming, confident man she knew, but even more alluring than she remembered. Forced to confront the man who betrayed her, Tate must ask herself if itâs possible to do the wrong thing for the right reasonâĤ and whether âonce in a lifetimeâ can come around twice.
Mini Review:
Just your typical boy meets girl, boys likes girl, boy kisses girl, boy finds out girl is famous, sells her out, and disappears. Twice In a Blue Moon is a second chance, redemption story following the daughter of a Hollywood leading man and the only boy that ever truly held her heart.
While this book did a full circle ending, calling back to earlier events, I honestly felt it was an epilogue/chapter short. My exact words when I read the last line were: âThatâs it?! Where is the rest of the book!â It had me hook, line, and sinker all the way until the end and then it was just done. All the issues, all the fallout, everything that hung in the balance and we never got to witness what happened after they reconnected. Did it last? Did they get married? How did they work out their careers as she was still acting and he was a writer? Did he give up the farm to be closer to her? Did she give up acting to be closer to him? Did they do long distance? Argh. What makes it worse is that I have read a few Christina Lauren books and you get that full wrap up but for some reason, they left this one wide open and we have to fill in the blanks on what happens next.
I would still recommend this book as it was a wonderful read about overcoming obstacles and taking control of your life. I will just warn that while the HEA may have been perfect for some, it lacked that genuine feel of completion – leaving me feeling unsatisfied and somewhat cheated. I will also provide the disclaimer that this book does revolve heavily around the film taking place once the characters return to the present. Ideal for those who love the behind the scenes within a story but may be tedious for individuals that only want to focus on the main protagonists.
