Wilder With You

Book #3 of a 6 Book Series

Book Summary:

Who knew pretending could be so hot?

Clark: It started as a joke. After all, I’d never pretend to date a woman just to get my mom and sister off my back.

I would, however, pretend to date her to get her ex-husband off hers.

Now the two of us, the wilderness warrior and the wedding planner, are stuck sharing a very small tent. I had no idea how fast things would heat up in here, or how hard it would be to keep my hands—among other things—to myself.

I also didn’t guess how quickly the news of our “relationship” would spread to my big, nosy family.

We can’t “break up” yet, because she’s planning my brother’s wedding and I’m his best man. Through venue visits, DIY disasters, and Vegas trips, we’re thrown together, and the chemistry’s off-the-charts. But the kicker is, I feel like she gets me.

Maybe that’s what scares me the most. I’m still reeling from the loss of my wife, and she’s still hurting from her ex’s betrayal. There’s no way this can ever be real.

But what if I’m starting to hope it is?

Mini Review:

This story was absolutely beautiful. It teaches us that grief can be experienced from any type of loss – whether from death or from betrayal. In either case, the process is a cycle of death and rebirth, coming to terms and embracing the possibility of a life other than what we expected. Watching Clark and Jessa go through their transformation was heartbreaking and breathtaking at the same time. Each had built an idea/image of who they were based on the people they lost. For Jessa, she believed Reuben’s idea of her and to cope, wanted to escape. She didn’t want to heal, she wanted to leave it behind. For Clark, he believed he was the reason for all of his pain and loss. He didn’t want to heal, he wanted to wallow and let the weight of his mistakes bury him alive. To see them come together, even under false pretenses, and bring out a light that was dimmed by others – I am not surprised how quickly I read this book! I will say I am happy I read them back to back because this Wilder Clan is getting bigger and bigger! I am almost tempted to read book five again (the one I read first as an ARC) just to get a good overview of where everyone is. For now, I can simply enjoy the magical place that is Rush Creek, the jaw dropping aww that are the Wilder brothers, the desperation to move to a small town (because if they build men like and they live in rural America – sign me up!) and the mixture of swooniness (waiting on you make this an official word Webster!) and spice that only Bell can deliver.
