Book #4 of a 4 Book Series
Book Summary:
Are you ready to fall in love with a Laker?
When Madison Reynolds accepts a dare to hit on the cute guy sitting alone at the bar, she doesn’t expect to see him again.
Enter Austin Hart.
Broody. Mysterious. With an icy stare that burns her to the core.
When Austin suggests they explore the undeniable chemistry between them, they agree it can be nothing more than a friends-with-benefits arrangement.
He’s Lakeshore U’s guarded goalie with no plans to settle down.
She’s the young single mom with the weight of the world on her shoulders.
Can Austin keep the pretty blonde and her daughter at arm’s length?
Or will Madi be able to show him that even the coldest hearts have the capacity for love?
Mini Review:
I am so in love with Imogen Grace! Sure, the story was great, but that little girl had my heart the moment she came on scene! The almost ending had me in tears. Part of me expected it, but I wasn’t prepared for the resolution. Having read all of the books in the series, I couldn’t tell which one was my favorite, until now. Hands down, this one blew them all out of the water. It had laughter, drama, suspense, and so much heart.
Austin has been a lurking presence in every single book, but to get inside his head, and even more – to match him with someone even more closed off than him, what a journey. I loved that we were able to see how far Rory had come, always enjoy a check-in with the rest of the group, and couldn’t get enough of Imogen (I know I said it before, I will say it again – I HEART that little girl!!!)
I will say the one oops the author made was in the bonus epilogue for Beneath the Ice. Madison was described as a dark-haired woman that Connor met after they eloped. In this story, Connor met her at the coffee shop shortly after the engagement party (well, that and she was a blonde in the story).
Back to the main characters – the most revealing thing of this match was how Madison mirrored Austin, giving him a taste of his own medicine. For once, he knew what it felt like to be iced out, held at arm’s length, and closed off from someone’s heart. He had so much love to give, but from what he endured (and still endured from his mother), you honestly couldn’t blame him.
I am seriously going to miss this series but I have a funny feeling it isn’t over yet. There were two other characters that constantly lurked around in previous stories so I have my fingers crossed that we will be seeing them get their HEAs in the future.
